Computer Assisted Drawing & Collage
Derrick Schultz is a designer, artist, and coder (in that order). His art explores the overlaps between machine-generated chance and an artist’s instinct, technology and nature, and mass production versus craft. Much of his work begins in code, but its final format varies from collage to drawing to three-dimensional objects. He often integrates found materials and recycled elements of previous works into new pieces. His work is in the permanent collection of the Denver Museum of Art. Derrick lives in Brooklyn with his cat Bug.
